Simple Smoothies for Sailing Through the Day

Smoothies can truly pack a punch. A beautiful blend of fresh fruits, leafy veggies, and superfood elements can kickstart your day and ensure you don’t suffer in the afternoon slump. It can be a challenge to weave in the high level of nutrients you need for optimum health, fortunately – fruity and green smoothies can make it simple to boost your five a day intake. Fresh, filling and a wonderful wake-up call for both the body and mind, these easy breezy smoothies on the go will get you off to the greatest start…

Mango Green Smoothie

Calling on the power of pure minimalism, the four-ingredient mango green smoothie is a gorgeous example of just how low maintenance smoothie making can be. Ripened with vitamin C, vitamin K, and a ton of calcium and potassium, you can be sure that this mango green will keep you going all day. Grab your favorite dairy-free milk (we think almond goes glorious), strip a banana from its skin, grab a handful of baby spinach, and add a cup or two of frozen mango chunks. Blend it all up in your smoothie maker and sip as you walk out the door.

Oatmeal Smoothie

The oatmeal smoothie is thick, delicious and a great on the go breakfast option to see you out the door. Place a quarter cup of oats into the blender and pulse until they turn to dust. Add in a frozen banana, half a cup of almond milk, a tablespoon of peanut butter, and a small spoon of maple syrup. Add in a dash of vanilla extract and a pinch of cinnamon, not to mention a little ice and blend it all up until smooth and creamy. The best part of this recipe is the fact that you can add what you like to it – strawberries or avocado, a few spinach leaves, chia seeds, or even a little protein powder if you need an extra filling fix.

Green Goddess Smoothie

You couldn’t dream up a healthier, heart-opening, energy priming concoction than the aptly named Green Goddess Smoothie. The perfect smoothie on the go; this juice will stay with you all day. Throw half a deseeded cucumber into the blender along with a handful of kale, a stick of celery, a peeled and sliced apple and pear, and a teaspoon of lemon juice. Pulp it all in the blender and if it's still a little thick simply top up with some water until you hit your desired consistency.

Ginger Sweet Potato Smoothie

Rather than getting weighed down at lunchtime why not turn to this delectable immune-boosting ginger sweet potato smoothie. Rich in antioxidants and packed full of things your body craves, this filling fresh and heartwarming smoothie will keep you going all day. Cook up a large sweet potato and a carrot before blending it up with freshly chopped ginger, a little lemon juice, kefir, a teaspoon of honey and a generous amount of turmeric. Consistency should be relatively thick but not soup-like. Place in the fridge until chilled and sip all afternoon.
